Five Stars
Classification: Remote Luxury Resort Hotel

Tambo del Inka, a Starwood Luxury Collection property opened in 2010, was designed by Peruvian-born star architect Bernardo Fort Brescia (as was the Westin Lima). You will notice the extensive use of woods, the voluminous lobby decorated with works of art and craft by Local artisans and the Argentinean based design firm of Caparra Entelman & Associates (responsible also for Hotel Paracas Luxury Collection). It is modern yet retains strongly the design sensibilities and elements of traditional Peruvian art and culture. it was the first hotel in Peru and second in South America to be granted an LEED certification for meeting the rigorous environmental standards required in the design, construction and operation of the hotel. The hotel sits in the Sacred Valley of the Incas nearby the Incan capital of Cusco and beneath the ancient sacred city of Machu Picchu. Each of the 128 rooms is luxuriously modern with a traditional flavor combining comfort and a design inspired by nature with all the practical and technological amenities expected of a Starwood Luxury Collection property. You will also notice triple storey high ceilings of the Restaurant Hawa, which seems to be supported from below by columns fanning upwards masquerading as ancient trees ( a motif subtly repeated in the spa area). You will get to admire it from close to ceiling height walking from the lobby and from the bottom up when you are sitting for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The walls, appointed with contemporary textiles called ?talking knots? or ?Khipus? historically used for Incan accounting, add depth and texture to the space. It?s worth a visit not just for its fine cuisine but also to admire the space both at daytime and nighttime. The hotel is just the perfect place to start a magical journey to explore Peru?s Incan sites. One of its unique features is its own private train station right by the hotel to Machu Picchu. The other main Incan sites like Ollantaytambo and Pisaq, and Cusco are also around the area, all doable in a day?s excursion. The hotel is also equipped with an excellent therapeutic spa with an indoor/outdoor pool where one can relax and revitalize for another day of discovery. With all these creature comforts available at this hotel, you?ll get the pampering and perfect rest between your explorations of the millenary culture, thereby making this hotel the perfect partner for a luxury experience.
