Hacienda Temozon on the Yucatan Peninsula is one of the best examples of the prosperity generated by sisal production in the 19th century in this region. Originally covering an area over 6600 hectares, it went into decline after the First World War, and was finally acquired and restored in 1996 turning the hacienda's buildings and 37 hectares of gardens into this intimate luxury colonial hacienda-styled hotel. A stay here let's you experience a piece of history whilst enjoying the nearby natural and cultural surroundings including sinkholes (cenotes), caves, colonial cities and archaeological sites. Nearby to Merida and its international aiport, the hotel boasts three buildings. The first building has the reception, restaurant and terrace bar, as well as the Pesidential Suite, which used to be the bedroom of the owner of the hacienda. The rooms and suites have a 19th century style decor and are located in the original building that has been completely restored and adapted to meet today's luxury hotel needs. All the 28 rooms have a private terrace each. Nine of them with a private pool, and one of these also has a private garden, They are named according to the function they had in the past, such as: the Pharmacy, the School, and the Carpentry. They are approximately 45 to 55 sqm with high ceilings and spacious bathrooms. You will also find a hammock in each should they prefer to sleep in the Mayan style. Overlooking the breathtaking main gardens, swimming pool, and the old factory buildings, the Temozon Restaurant proposes a blend of regional and international cuisine. Most of the ingredients are organic and come from the gardens. Fresh-baked bread is "made at the hacienda" and fresh fish are brought in daily from the surrounding coastal villages.
