Classification: Luxury Adventure Lodge

The Caiman Ecological Refuge and its lodges were established in 1985 as the first ecotourism operation in southern Pantanal in the State of Mato Grosso do Sul. A stay here offers to you a means of getting close to the Pantanal wetland's abundant nature and culture with an expert ecological guide, with the comfort of their lodges and their excellent hospitality and gastronomy. A luxurious way to explore this remote and unique ecosystem. Located on a 53,000 hectare ranch next to the small town of Miranda, it consists of two lodges - Cordilheira and Baiazinha, which have fully independent operations and are 22 km from each other. The Cordilheira Lodge integrates harmoniously with its natural surroundings. On one side, a wooded hillside to observe local fauna throughout the day and, on the other, a branch of the lake, either dry or full, depending on the season, reflecting the flood-water cycle. Baiazinha Lodge is a bird-shaped house, located on the shores of a lake, permanently flooded with crystal-clear water. It has six standard rooms, situated on the wings of the bird. Its balconies, overlooking a west-facing inlet of the lake, are an irresistible haven for watching the wetland sunset. The excursions you can take from either lodge include boat tours, alligator spotting, horse back riding, photo safari, farm visits and trekking.
