Bogota

As diverse as Colombia itself, its capital Bogota is located in the center of the country and is a cultural mixture and ethnic groups from all over the world. It is the third highest capital in South America, over 2,500m above sea level, with a sub-tropical highland climate. Boasting more than 60 museums and art galleries, Bogota has a permanent cultural agenda and hosts several festivals throughout the year. Make sure you visit its Gold museum where you can learn a lot about its pre-Colombian cultures. In addition to its cultural locations, Bogota has more than 4000 parks and green areas which make it very pleasant whilst exploring its streets, religious temples and historical buildings. You will also experience an abundance of street art everywhere you go. Locals have long started to integrate the artists and thousands of houses and walls have been painted by streets artists that convert those areas into colorful oases.
An amazing 50 shopping malls make Bogota a heaven for shopping where you can get everything from local crafts to the latest international fashion as well as creations by haute couture Colombian designers.
Every Sunday and on national holidays, the city converts itself into a cycling Meka where more than 100 km of public roads are closed to cars and taken over by thousands of cyclists.
The buzzing nightlife of this capital city with over 6.5 million people will give you a taste of the welcoming nature of the locals, as well as access to one of the major gastronomic capitals of Latin America where you can experience the local flavors combined with international fusion.
